Plus Size Coats - The Good and Bad Fitting

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Tiffany_Hart]Tiffany Hart

Clothes are designed in such ways that they can look good in one situation and poor in another. This is particularly true when it comes to buying plus size coats.

Coats serve a number of different purposes. Given the horrific cold snap blanketing the country, many people could not care less what a coat looks like so long as it keeps them warm. In conditions where the temperature is well below zero, this certainly makes sense.

Ah, but what if things are warmer and you want to incorporate a particular fashion sense into your coat? Well, there are many different options you can choose from. That being said, the same coat will look good on one person and poor on another. This is particularly true if you are a plus size woman....

The key to building a wardrobe as a plus size woman is to accept who you are and buy the right size of clothing whether it be a coat or some other piece of clothing. Trying to squeeze into a smaller size is both uncomfortable and unflattering to your body. Instead of going small, try to focus on the cut of clothing when creating a good look. This is particularly true with coats.

Many plus size women have derriere sizes they don't like. To hide them, women often will use the old sweater tied around the waist trick or buy a longer coat that hangs over and down past the derriere. As to the coat, this approach is the wrong way to go. Instead of hiding your rear end, it emphasizes the fact you have a bigger derriere because the coat will flare out in the back and around your hips.

A better way to go with coats for plus size derrieres is to buy a cut that ends at the waistline. This will draw the eyes up to the waistline. Since the eyes are focusing upwards on the body, the derriere and hips are de-emphasized and you get the look you are after.

This brings us to an overall tip for plus size women when it comes to fashion. If you do not like a particular part of your body, trying to hide it is often a poor strategy. Using the cut of clothes to draw the eyes to stronger parts of your body is a better approach.

When shopping, take the time to notice how certain cuts look better than others. You'll quickly pick up on particular styles that work with your body type and be able to build a wardrobe of coats and clothes in which you look outstanding!
